I'm in love...again

Here he is. Cannon Cougar Mecham. And no, I'm not kidding. Cougar really is his middle name. I figured it was my turn to pick a first name. So of course Todd got to pick the middle. And he did. I have grown to like it. After the initial shock wore off.

The stats: 8lbs - 19 1/2 inches
Born 11/09/09 - 7:28 am

Cannon is two weeks old now and things couldn't be going better. My C-section recovery was WAY easier this time around. Cannon fits in with the others seamlessly. He is sleeping really well at night, my guess is that during the day his sleep is constantly interrupted by someone wanting to hold him. So by the time we put him to bed at night he is exhausted.

Each one of our children have added something special to our home. Already I can't imagine life without Cannon.

October Review

October came and went in a flash. Here are some highlights.

Brigham earned his Bear a few months ago, they just got around to giving it to him this month. He thinks scouts is the coolest and LOVES wearing his uniform.

Mallory donated her hair. She has been wanting to do this for quite some time but didn't want the end result to be too short. Todd loves her with shorter hair and has been bugging her to cut it for months. I think Mallory looks cute no matter how her hair is. Here are the before and after shots (don't mind the pink eye in first picture).

Haydyn discovered the bandaids. I discovered something new to keep a 2 year old occupied for longer than 10 minutes at a time. Amazing what a box of dollar store bandaids can do.
Our family went to see the witches at Gardners Village. It was freezing and started to rain but not before we got a few pictures and found all the witches. Then we warmed up and had a yummy dinner at The Pie.
Halloween was a blast. Todd took all the kids trick-or-treating. Then after they got home we dumped out all the candy on the family room floor and stuffed our faces while we watched a movie. Then all the candy went in a big bowl that we keep on the top shelf of the pantry. We could feed a small country with all the loot we got this year.

I love being with my kids and sharing in their excitement. We are so blessed to have them.

A Tale of Two Teeth

Who knew that two tiny teeth could cause such trauma? The crying, the begging, the bribery... and that was just from me and Todd. It went on for weeks. The dentist, the neighbor, and the primary teacher were even involved. No go. Mallory had freaked herself out so badly she wouldn't let us near her. Her top two teeth were barely hanging in there. Big teeth already pushing through. Think of a shark... you'll get the picture.

Luckily one fell out at school. But having one tooth out made the other one look even worse. It hung right in the middle of her mouth, making her look like a little country bumpkin. It just so happend that the tooth fairy was having an amazing special that night (she does this regularly, in case you didn't know.) Two teeth for $5. Surely Mallory wouldn't be able to pass this up. Wrong. She just needed 1 more day to prepare herself, or so she said.

Of course the next night Mallory still wasn't ready. I'm not going to go into detail, you might consider it cruel and unusual punishment. But after much weeping and wailing the tooth was out. And everything was back to normal (only after cuddling with Dad for an extended period of time.)

The End

3 weeks from today I have a scheduled c-section.

On one hand a relief: being induced 1 week past your due date is torture! I can't be induced this time because Haydyn ended up being an emergency c-section.

On the other hand kind of a bummer. Because Todd has only been working at his new job a couple of months, he will only have accrued 2 sick days. That means one day off when I have the baby, and one more the day I come home from the hospital. Something like that. And from my last experience, having a c-section was definitely a harder recovery.

I would be thrilled to have my water break this time. I've never gone that route. I'll also be praying for him to come on a weekend so Todd won't have to take a day off to be there! But as long as I don't deliver my own baby while speeding down the freeway I'll be happy!

Brotherly love

Just a typical Quin and Cole moment in front of the Draper Temple. Notice Quin's innocent face while trying to karate kick his brother without us noticing. Now notice Cole's face and imagine the squeeling pig like scream coming out of it. Ahhhh. . . love at home.

School time!

Oh how I miss the buss. It deserted us because it was to full. Hmmm. Doesn't make sense to me either. So now I have a flow chart depicting my 3 different carpools. If I don't refer to it daily I'm lost (you think I'm kidding don't you.) This is going to be a treat when baby comes. Luckily I have wonderful friends who will step up and help out for a while. I still have a sliver of hope that our bus stop will reappear and I will only have 2 carpools to remember.

Here's to the first day of school 2009 (or should I say first days of school, or first day of schools? I don't know. 3 different first days of school... how bout that.)

Brigham with his spankin new buzz. He is in 4th grade this year.

Mallory going to 2nd grade (and her trusty sidekick Hayhay.)

My cute Quin off to kindergarten.

Cole is headed to Tree house Preschool. Next year... kindergarten!

One Decade

Brigham turned 10 this week. Where did the time go? How is it that I have been a Mother for 10 years now and each day I feel the expanse of what I don't know grow. I never realized that Mothers weren't always sure of what they were doing until I had children of my own. My hope for my kids right now is that I can be worthy to be the Mom they deserve.

Anywho - back to Brig. He was so excited to turn 10. For the last year and a half he has wanted a motor scooter. He finally got his wish. Brigham has been so good about not getting the things he has wanted for Christmases and Birthdays for the last few years. He was even shorted on allowance. We wanted him to know how proud of him we are for not complaining. He has learned a few things we weren't quite ready to teach him yet.

10 things about Brigham:
1. He loves airplanes and is already wondering how soon he can start flying lessons. (Ummm how about never?)
2. Makes really weird, really loud noises A LOT.
3. When Todd can't find something, Brigham usually knows where it is.
4. Treats Haydyn like a princess.
5. Loves geography and maps. (Blame his Dad.)
6. If he is not in school, he is wearing a hat.
7. Loves scouts and takes pride in wearing his uniform.
8. Never sleeps past 7:00 am.
9. Finally gave in to Todd buzzing his hair. But only because he wouldn't have to comb his hair for school.
10. Has inherited our love for sushi.

We love you Brigham! Happy Birthday!
